Matthew 12: 33 tells us that “a tree is recognized by its fruit”. If you are in Christ, you should produce fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5: 22).
As children of God, we can’t still willfully and unrepentantly continue to sin and yield the fruits of the flesh. How can we draw those that are lost to Him when we do not look any different? How can we show them how the Spirit can change their life if ours is still in shambles? How can we tell others to love, be patient, and have faith when those are not the fruit they see in our lives?
The fruit of your life should reflect God because “the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you” (Romans 8: 11 AMP). Because of Christ and the Spirit, we are now free of sin and can live lives of righteousness. We must keep in mind, however, that living righteously is something we must strive for daily. In Romans 7, the Apostle Paul spoke about how even when he tried to do what is right the temptation to do wrong was still lurking. He acknowledged the fact that it is a battle to continue in right-living rather than going back to sin.
Though the path may not be easy, the Good News is that His Spirit is ready to dwell inside of you to produce fruits that will draw others to our God. His Spirit enables us to withstand the temptation to revert to our old ways. So, check your fruits. Do they show that His Spirit really lives in you?

Romans 8: 11 (AMP) And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.
Romans 8: 11 (MSG) It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s!
