In Proverbs 5:1, Solomon said, “Be attentive to my wisdom, godly wisdom learned by costly experience” (AMP). For many of us, we have been fortunate enough to have had someone try to warn us or give us advice about some area of our lives. These people wanted to save us the letdown and disappointment by sharing what they’d been through. Some of us heeded their words while some of us decided to do it all on our own, repeating their same mistakes and learning the hard way.
God doesn’t punish unjustly. He sees and understands when we fall short and when we make mistakes. He also sees when we deliberately disregard what we’ve been told to walk how we see fit. We’re told that “the ways of man are directly before the eyes of the Lord, and He carefully watches all of his paths” (Proverbs 5:21 AMP). Whether it be from someone wiser and more experienced or from the words of our Bible, we have been given instructions that will guard our steps and help us live a life of righteousness versus one of sin.
Heed words of wisdom. Walk right before the Lord. He sees all we do.
